2008 Season
Celebrating our 15th anniversary
The Guelph Jazz Festival turns 15 this year! To help celebrate, we've got some grand plans for 2008:
- Three consecutive days (Friday through Sunday) of amazing music at Guelph's largest concert hall, the Main Stage of the River Run Centre
- On Saturday, a specially commissioned Afro-Cuban jazz carnaval by Jane Bunnett, featuring a parade, dance, theatre and music that will extend the festivities at the Upper Wyndham Street Jazz Tent well into Saturday night for the first time in the Festival's history
- A John Zorn mini-festival on Sunday, with concerts in the morning (an improvisation) and afternoon (a double-bill of distinct compositions) by this legendary American composer and band leader
There are lots of other highlights, of course: crack bands from the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, New York and Chicago. A much-anticipated performance by post-rockers Tortoise. And a tent lineup that includes an eclectic mix of big bands from Quebec, Brampton and New York.
Won't you join us for five days of amazing creative music in the welcoming community of Guelph?
