New York's Marc Ribot is the first-call guitarist for composers and bandleaders like John Zorn and Tom Waits, and a full list of his collaborators reads like a Who's Who of creative music in genres including jazz, rock, R&B, contemporary composition, and on and on. This trio includes legendary bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Chad Taylor.

Vertical Squirrels (ON/USA)

 

Vertical Squirrels plays collective improvisations that draw on groove elements of funk and rock and feature, in particular, Rob Wallace's sensitive and propulsive drumming and Fischlin's adventurous Abercrombie- and Frisell-inflected guitar-playing. This concert launches their debut recording, Hold True, on Montréal's Ambiences Magnétiques.
