Marc Ribot, Henry Grimes, Chad Taylor (USA)
New York's Marc Ribot is the first-call guitarist for composers and bandleaders like John Zorn and Tom Waits, and a full list of his collaborators reads like a Who's Who of creative music in genres including jazz, rock, R&B, contemporary composition, and on and on.
This inter-generational trio takes the core of the band Spiritual Unity that Ribot assembled for his intriguing take on the musical legacy of pioneer free jazz saxophonist, Albert Ayler. Legendary bassist Henry Grimes possesses an extraordinary sound and a boundless melodic and rhythmic imagination. He worked with Ayler, Cecil Taylor, Sonny Rollins, Steve Lacy and many others during the sixties and, after a hiatus from professional music-making of a couple of decades, his return to regular playing represents one of the great comeback stories in jazz history.
Drummer Chad Taylor is a wonderful complement to Ribot's and Grimes's rhythmical powers, and is capable of driving the entire band with his propulsive drumming.
