Outreach and Partnerships
Guelph Jazz Festival provides opportunities for everyone to be inspired by and engaged in creative music. The Festival strives to present distinctive performances that reflect the world in which we live and to make these performances accessible to the broadest possible audience through concerts, educational initiatives, and free programs. Our educational programs are designed and delivered through a number of partnerships, where improvising artists are placed in direct and meaningful contact with the community.
At the forefront of scholarly thought on jazz for the past 22 years, Guelph Jazz Festival offers an educational colloquium that examines music within global cultural contexts as an integral part of the Festival. A dynamic forum that has generated innovative research and writing on the theory, practice, and pedagogy of jazz, Guelph Jazz Festival continues to produce lively discourse that substantively expands the vocabulary of creative music making and critical thinking.
We are proud to partner with "International Institute for the Critical Studies in Improvisation at the University of Gueph" , a major collaborative research initiative comprised of non-profit organizations, researchers, and universities funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
