Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Guelph Jazz Festival.
The Guelph Jazz Festival is a vibrant, community-based event where volunteers have the opportunity to lend their talents, learn new skills and work together in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Volunteering with us is an enriching and rewarding experience, and a wonderful way to give back to the Guelph community.
Each season more than 150 volunteers provide essential services for the Festival. Without the incredible commitment and contribution of our volunteers, the Festival would not be possible.
All volunteers are required to work a minimum of 6 hours before or during the Festival. Shifts vary in length, depending on the location of your volunteer assignment and your specific duties. When filling out your volunteer application, please give ample consideration to your availability and preferred work times. Also think about where your talents and skills can be best put to use. To learn more about our available volunteer positions, please read this brief description of volunteer roles and responsibilities.
Volunteers are expected to attend a general orientation session prior to the festival. Mandatory training will also be held for volunteers on the Sales Crew and Beverage Crew. These training sessions are very important for you to be able to do your job safely and effectively, so you must attend. Time spent in training and orientation sessions will be counted towards your minimum 6-hour volunteer commitment.
We ask our volunteers to be enthusiastic, tolerant, flexible and helpful and to comply with the rules and responsibilities outlined in our Volunteer Agreement. In return, each volunteer will receive:
• A Festival Volunteer t-shirt
• Free entry to selected Festival performances (one ticket per every 6 volunteer hours completed)
• An invitation to our post-Festival volunteer party (to be held in late September)
