This year’s festival promotional materials – website, posters, brochures – feature Toronto artist Michael Hood’s painting, “Cycles 1.” He has kindly donated the original painting to the festival, for which we are very grateful. Festival attendees can buy $10 Art Draw tickets at concerts at the River Run Centre and Guelph Little Theatre for a chance to win the painting (acrylic on canvas, 30”x30”, framed, $600 value). Tickets will be available in the lobby around concerts by Peter Brötzmann, Cluttertones with Lee Pui Ming, Butcher/Lehn/Shipp, Peggy Lee Octet, Matthew Shipp, Way Out Northwest, MEUH, MendHam, and BassDrumBone. Patrons can purchase as many tickets as they wish, with all proceeds going to the Guelph Jazz Festival. The final draw will be announced at intermission of the 12 noon concert, Sunday 17 September, Guelph Youth Music Centre, the double-bill of Mark Helias solo and Tom & Gerry. Good luck in your pursuit of this fine work of art, and for supporting the festival at the same time.
