Final Two Autumn Echoes Series Concerts This Weekend (19-20 November)

** TICKETS ON SALE HERE **

The Autumn Echoes Series wraps up with two more concerts this coming weekend (19-20 Nov). Following our hugely successful September six-day in-person event, plus four lovely concerts to date in this series, we aim to recall the great feelings the festival engendered, and to project them forward by featuring a range of world-class creative improvising musicians and groups, each to be presented at indoor concerts at Royal City Mission, 50 Quebec Street, Guelph.

Friday 19 November 8pm: Friday 19 November, 8pm: Montreal’s Thanya Iyer sings extended pop-based songs that are steeped in melodic richness and accompanied by her and her band’s dynamic electro-acoustic instrumentation. The group’s 2020 record, KIND, is a wide-ranging suite of thematically linked songs in episodes from the sweetly tuneful to the provocatively experimental. Toronto’s Justin Orok, whose poignant, often bittersweet songs feature his extraordinary guitar skills, will play an opening set. BUY TICKETS

Saturday 20 November 8pm: Separately and together, as Barnyard Drama, singer and theremin player Christine Duncan and drummer and producer Jean Martin have a lengthy history performing for GJF audiences. They will know Christine for her kaleidoscopic vocal talent and improvisational daring and Jean for his combination of rock-like drive and astonishing sensitivity. Here they are joined by another spectacular Toronto vocalist, Laura Swankey, who extends her notable jazz-singer chops considerably, including through electronic processing. Together, they will offer trio improvisations that will range from careful nuance to wild abandon. BUY TICKETS

GJF Autumn Echoes advance tickets are $10 (plus HST and fees). Tickets, if still available, can also be purchased at the door.

For the safety and comfort of our audiences, capacity at Royal City Mission will strictly limited to ensure physical distancing. Mask-wearing and proof of vaccination mandatory for admission. Would-be attendees who claim a vaccine exemption are invited to contact the GJF so that we can consider how to accommodate them.
