Collateral (NS-QC)

Halifax cellist Norman Adams pairs Classical bona fides –– until recently, he was the long-time Principal Cellist of Symphony Nova Scotia –– with a deep commitment to playing and cultivating the field of improvised music in Eastern Canada. As Artistic Director of SuddenlyListen, Adams has invited countless artists from other parts of Canada and internationally to work in Nova Scotia. It’s in this context that he and long-time musical partner, pianist Tim Crofts, first worked with Montreal-Cairo guitarist and oud-player Sam Shalabi, whose jagged, rhythmically and tonally rich playing is a perfect stylistic foil.

Sunday 18 September, 11am, Guelph Youth Music Centre, $20/$15 [buy tickets]
