All who engage with the Guelph Jazz Festival, including audience, artists, crew, staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, public officials, and more, are expected to abide by this code of conduct.
By engaging with the festival, you agree to be mindful of, and take responsibility for your speech and behaviour. This includes:
- Contributing to a safe space for everyone, including for artists to create, and for others to experience those creations.
- Actively listening to the music and to others around you.
- Always acting out of respect and concern for others.
- Not making assumptions about the identity, experiences, or preferred pronouns of others.
- Respecting physical and emotional boundaries.
The Guelph Jazz Festival does not tolerate oppressive or destructive behaviour, harassment, or exclusionary actions. This means:
- No racism
- No sexism
- No homophobia
- No transphobia
- No body shaming
- No ableism
- No bullying
- No violence
- No disrespect
- Yes respect
- Yes positivity
- Yes you!
The code of conduct is enforced at the discretion of festival staff, and breaches of the code of conduct may result in you being asked to stop your actions or to leave. If you witness or are subject to unacceptable behaviour, or experience marginalising or silencing behaviour, you are encouraged to speak with a Guelph Jazz Festival staff member, security personnel, or volunteer.
