Originally from Boston, singer Kim Zombik has established herself across Montreal’s fields of jazz and creative improvised music as a charismatic and thoroughly inventive performer. This project pairs her with double-bassist Nicolas Caloia in a most stripped-down and intimate experience of Zombik’s remarkable talents. She has a knack for imbuing lyrics, even oblique and surreal ones, with richnesses of meaning and purpose, doing so through an embodied musicality that verges on the theatrical, while Caloia, one of Canada’s great double bassists, grounds, underpins, and animates the material with aplomb.
