Nicole Rampersaud (NB)

Nicole Rampersaud emerged as a unique and leading voice on trumpet while based in Toronto during the years hinging around 2010, a period of ferment in the city’s field of creative music, to which she contributed notably in groups like c_RL (with Allison Cameron and Germaine Liu), Brass Knuckle Sandwich (with Marilyn Lerner), and Brodie West’s Eucalyptus. Now based in rural New Brunswick, Rampersaud is especially dedicated to expanding and refining her solo practice, which combines innate lyricism, depth of timbral resource through both astonishing technical command, and a satisfying sense of formal development. Of late, she has been increasingly incorporating electronics into her solo performance, an aspect of her work that Rampersaud will be premiering in her Guelph solo show.
